A Profile of Fereydoun Parsanejad

-Fereydoun Parsanejad was born on 9th April 1943 in Tehran.

   Since his childhood at primary school and later at high school he was enthusiastic in different fields of arts especially theatre.

-In 1959 and 1960 he got the third and first awards  in the nationwide high  school painting contest. He also got  a prize and an

   official  citation from the then minister of the culture.

   During  those days, in Hadaf high school  he performed radio plays and ran a journal with artistic , political and  literary themes.

   In 1959, when he was still 16 he founded the first Iranian permanent high school theatre in Emrooz school and staged seven plays ,

   during the same year. In those performances he was responsible for writing and conducting the plays as well as doing the make-

   ups and set- designing .

-After graduating from high school and passing the acting exam, he entered the Academy of Stanislavsky System .

   It  was there he studied acting with Mahin and Mostafa Oskuie ,the founders of scientific theatre in  Iran .Later he went on the

   stage in  the same academy  in Tehran and 23 towns and  cities .

   While he was studying , he worked  as an office clerk , painting tuitor , as an employee of the children house and an art reporter .

-The roles that Parsanejad have played  are as follows:

   Professor and General in Tanya by Alex Arbosov, Monsieur Schopo in the six flat, by Alfred Gehri, Lavye and Don Basil in the

   Barber of civil by B.Marche, count Almaviva in the wedding of Figaro by B. Marche, Servant  in the Wolves and the lambs by

   Astrovsky, General Leclerk in Haiiti by William de Bua ,Andree in Three sisters by Anton Chekhov and Love story adapted by

   Mahin Oskuie.

-Due to the political, social  and artistic suppressions , especially  in theatre , Parsanejad left Iran for Berlin  to study cinema.

   In Berlin, he entered the film academy while he was simultaneously studying German and working for a  life as a bricklayer and

   baby sitter.

-He passed the first courses of the cinema on photography and working with different cameras in Bremen.

   In 1967  , he was arrested  for taking part in demonstration against  the  Ex - shah in  Berlin  and  for the  same  reason  he was

  deprived of his scholarship . Parsanejad sent admission requests to the then conspicuous  theaters in Germany .  It was then he

   received  an invitation from Kurt Hubner the Director  General of the Bremen state theatre.

-Since 1969 to1999 he was engaged in studying stage  painting , sculpture,  and stage architecture in Bremen and working at the

   theatre as the "artist of all fields " according to the term which was stated in his job contract . In the last 11 years of  his  career,

   he was the head of the decor atelier where he supervised constructing the decors of the following plays: Five scenes of children's

   Theater, Ballet, Opera, Theatre, and the experimental theater.

-In 1988 he wrote a dissertation and as a result he  received the directing diploma .Reaching his life long ambition, soon he founded

   a non - government acting studio under the title of Sturm . This was destined to be the first acting school  based on Stanislavsky

   system in Bremen state as well as whole Germany.

-Parsanejad  worked for ten years at this school as the instructor , director , stage architect and the manager.

-The  result  of  his  endeavors  in addition to  training many  students were the following  plays  presented as the  experimental

    performances of the students:

 -Sturm studio has been a member of Stanislavsky international center as well as the international theatre institute since 1991.

   Parsanejad was awarded an honorary Doctorate for his total  activities especially for writing a dissertation on the stage fever.

   During the 1990 -1996 , he  also made several speeches on Stanislavsky system in various European cities such as London ,

   Paris, Hanover, Bokhum ,Hamburg, Berlin, Dancig, East Berlin and Moscow.

- Returning to Iran , he was invited by Mostafa Oskuie to lecture at Anahita Academy of the performing arts.

   It was there he managed to work as Oskuie's  assistant in the play called Ferdowsi's Life. Those who enjoy an nthusiastic

   and firm love towards theatre do not know retiring .Parsanejad  did not stop his activities  in the field of theater even after

   the tragic death of Mostafa Oskuie . He went through the labyrinth of all kinds of formalities and finally got a formal permit

    for opening the first institute of performing arts in the town of Natans. This institute which he named  Tufan was founded on

   18 January 2008 . Consequently he managed to build a small stage for  teaching the  students during  summer as well as a

   room  for winter classes.

   Presently he is doing his best to absorb the talented young volunteers to study acting in Tufan.

   Parsanejads works:

-A dissertation  on stage fever.

-Eight books about directing for  those stories staged in Germany.

-Teaching how to act according to Stanislavsky  method , for Sturm students.

-A street car named Sturm (theater biography).

-Teaching how to act according to Stanislavsky for  the Iranian.

-Some important translations for teaching in Iran.
